Panoramic Lift at London Bridge, London
In one of London’s most iconic urban locations, next to the historic London Bridge, an external panoramic lift designed and manufactured by IMEM Lifts was installed to improve accessibility and pedestrian mobility in the area.
This lift, which is for public use and freely accessible, connects King William Street with Upper Thames Street, facilitating movement between two street levels with a high daily flow of pedestrians. Its strategic location, at one end of the bridge, makes it a key piece of infrastructure for ensuring smoother, more inclusive and more efficient circulation within the surrounding area.
The project was developed in strict compliance with the requirements established by the City of London Corporation, particularly those defined in the “Performance Specification for the Provision of Public Access Passenger and Platform Lifts”. This regulation sets demanding standards for public access installations, especially in aspects related to universal accessibility, operational reliability and resistance to vandalism.
In addition to providing a robust and functional solution for a highly demanding urban environment, the panoramic lift integrates visually into the urban landscape through an external structure that brings transparency and architectural lightness. Its design enhances the user experience while contributing to the modernisation of the surrounding public infrastructure.
